Modern Slavery Statement
Removals Highbury Modern Slavery Commitment
Removals Highbury is firmly committed to conducting its business with integrity, transparency and respect for human rights. This Modern Slavery Statement explains the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. It applies to all employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers that provide goods or services to our business.
Modern slavery is a severe violation of fundamental human rights and includes slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, bonded labour, child labour, and human trafficking. Removals Highbury recognises that the removals and logistics sector can be exposed to these risks, particularly in areas such as temporary labour, subcontracted services and the sourcing of vehicles, equipment and materials.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
Removals Highbury operates a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. We will not knowingly work with any organisation or individual involved in such practices, and we expect the same firm stance from everyone in our supply chain.
All staff are required to act ethically and to report any concerns about possible modern slavery risks. Management at all levels is responsible for ensuring those reporting to them understand and comply with this policy. Where credible concerns are raised, we will investigate promptly and take appropriate action, which may include terminating relationships with those found to be in breach of our standards.
Managing Risk in Our Operations and Supply Chain
We assess the risk of modern slavery across our operations and key supplier categories. Particular focus is given to labour providers, subcontracted removal teams, cleaning and facility services, and suppliers of equipment and materials. When entering new supplier relationships or renewing existing ones, we consider the supplier’s location, type of work, labour practices and previous ethical performance.
Our contractual approach seeks to embed expectations around human rights and labour standards. We aim to ensure that all workers engaged in our supply chain are employed voluntarily, fairly paid, and work in safe conditions with reasonable working hours.
Supplier Audits and Due Diligence
Removals Highbury undertakes proportionate supplier due diligence to identify, prevent and mitigate modern slavery risks. This may include pre-qualification questionnaires, review of policies and procedures, and verification of right-to-work documentation where relevant to the services provided.
We reserve the right to carry out audits of existing suppliers, either announced or unannounced, focusing on working conditions, wage records, use of subcontractors, and recruitment practices. Where we identify gaps or weaknesses, we will work with the supplier to implement corrective actions within a defined timeframe. If a supplier is unwilling or unable to meet our standards, we will consider suspending or ending the commercial relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Removals Highbury encourages anyone with concerns about modern slavery or unethical conduct in connection with our business to speak up without fear of retaliation. Concerns can be raised through line managers, senior management or other established internal reporting routes.
Reports are handled sensitively and, so far as possible, confidentially. We commit to investigating all credible allegations of modern slavery or related abuses. Where appropriate, we will cooperate with law enforcement and relevant authorities. No one who raises a concern in good faith will suffer any adverse treatment as a result of doing so.
Training and Awareness
We aim to build awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff, particularly those responsible for recruitment, procurement and supplier management. Training and guidance help our teams recognise warning signs, understand reporting responsibilities, and apply our zero-tolerance approach consistently.
We also communicate our expectations to suppliers and business partners, encouraging them to adopt similar standards and to cascade these requirements throughout their own supply chains.
Monitoring, Accountability and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing this Modern Slavery Statement rests with the senior leadership of Removals Highbury. We monitor the effectiveness of our approach through supplier reviews, feedback from staff, and incidents or concerns raised through our reporting channels.
This statement will be reviewed at least once every year, and more frequently if required by changes in legislation, business operations or identified risks. As part of the annual review, we will evaluate our due diligence, audits, training and reporting mechanisms and consider additional measures to strengthen our response to modern slavery.
By publishing this Modern Slavery Statement, Removals Highbury reaffirms its commitment to acting ethically, supporting the protection of human rights, and continually improving our practices to help eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking from our operations and supply chains.
